Peds Banquet

I'm behind the times (ha...what's new!) June 11th was our peds end-of-the-year banquet, which was really my last "official" act as chief. We had it at the Petroleum Club, and I think it went well! The food was WAY better than last year (although that really isn't saying too much), and I think everyone had a good time. Sadly, I didn't take too many pictures at the actual banquet.

Abby stayed with her MeMe and Papa while Dave and I went, but she was sure excited to see us when we got home!

My co-chief, Lisa, and I. Although we're great friends and have worked super close together all year, this is only 1 of 2 pictures I have of us!


And my other good friend Laura, also known as Riley's mom. She's inheriting my job....and although I've had a great year, I'm glad to pass it on!
Congratulations to all of our graduating residents! I've been honored to work with you all, and I see great things in your future!

A quick update

Not much going on around here. Work is not bad at this point, considering I'm on my way out as chief and and the new ones have started taking over. I start my new job on July 1st, so I'm enjoying my last week and a half of easiness. Spent most of yesterday by the pool getting some sun as a reward for cleaning out our shower drain (ewwww....seriously couldn't be a plumber).

Abby's doing well. We're trying to teach her to wear a hat so that she won't get burned at the beach this summer. They have a new class pet at school, a guinea pig named Lizzie. She loves it...so much that I considered getting one for about 2 seconds. But I figure, hey, you gotta have something to look forward to at school, right? Why ruin that? She's becoming a little fish in the swimming pool- I've considered doing some swim lessons for her but I don't think she's quite old enough just yet.
Had my 24 week OB appointment this week, all looks good. My blood pressure was better than it's been this entire pregnancy, baby's heart rate was 152. Finally gaining some weight, 7 pounds total so far. Dr. Brown was please!!

Picasso-ette

Remember the awesome (spongebob-wrapped) art set that Aunt Tammy got Abby for her birthday? She loves it!

Although I don't think I'd quite call the red paint entirely "washable". She's made some fantastic paintings! Thanks, Aunt Tammy!!

I was able to spend 2 glorious hours by myself at the pool yesterday (thanks, Dave!). I managed to burn my thighs to a crisp by poorly applying sunscreen, but I also finished a book I've been working on since March. Then Abby and Dave came down and went swimming for another hour. Abby's turning into a little fish, just like her momma!

We spent a couple of hours by the pool this afternoon with Abby's friend Riley and my friend Laura. Abby likes the pool no matter what, but she likes it better with a friend!

By the way, in case you're wondering, on day 2 of my vacation, I went to Walmart (twice), Lowe's, JC Penny's, and the tag agency. Checking things off the list left and right!!

Baby Girl

It's been a while since I wrote...2 weeks, in fact. Which is exactly the same amount of time I've been attending on wards, taking care of sick kids admitted to the hospital. It's officially summer since we had 2 kids with snake bites admitted to us!!

But now I'm on glorious, glorious vacation for a week. Which means I got up at 7am with Abby, did 8 loads of laundry, exchanged the propane tanks for the grill, picked up dry cleaning, went to the grocery store, and cooked dinner. And, just for me, I did squeeze in a mani/pedi and am now proudly wearing a pretty shade of hot pink called "Dancing in the Tulips". I think people who get to name nailpolish colors have a cool job. Maybe in my next life.....

I realized I never did post pictures of baby girl #2. She's been moving more and more lately, but not strong enough for Dave to feel yet (or to keep me up at night). We might have a name for her....I like it, Dave hasn't vetoed it. Which is a major improvement!
Abby is starting to sort of get it......if you ask her where her baby sister is, she pulls up her shirt and points to her tummy (it's really, really cute!). Sometimes the baby lives in her tummy, sometimes mommy's, sometimes daddy's. She occassionally wants to kiss her goodnight. So at least she's starting to realize that this is happening. And she did let me hold my friend Laura's baby yesterday without throwing a fit to be held too. All in all, progress! And in more fun news, one of my very good friends is also pregnant and due just a few weeks after me, which makes this even more exciting too.
