Bye Bye 2008!

It's been a wonderful year of blessings for the DeLeons. We thank each of you for being part of our lives, and we are looking forward to what 2009 brings!

Abby's First Christmas...

abby in the big bath tub with her new Christmas toys
How many people does is take to give Abby a bath???

Is the bear creepy to anyone else??

Opening her new phone

Look at all those presents!
My nephew's new shoes...seriously ugly if you ask me, but
apparently they're the "in" thing now.

A Big BooBoo

Abby's first impressive knot and bruise after a fall on the couch. And if I hadn't been a doctor, I might have taken her to the ER after she fell, so I'll try to have a little more sympathy for the next hysterical mom who brings in her perfectly fine looking toddler after a fall......

College Reunion....

This past weekend I was lucky enough to get to spend a long lunch this past weekend with two of my college roommates in Denton. Kristina and I lived together for 3 years, and she now lives in Dallas with her husband and son. Ashley and I lived together for 3 years as well. She lives in Alaska now with her husband and they're expecting Molly Frances in March. It was wonderful to see both of them again, especially not knowing when the next time I'll see Ashley will be.

Speed demon...

I've been meaning to post one of these for a while since she's got it down now.

Two teeth!

I spoke too soon.....I got it after a little more trying.

We're talking....

Her first tooth...

Please excuse the mess.....but you can see the first tooth! I tried my best to get another picture tonight before posting of her now with TWO teeth, but she wouldn't cooperate. So this will have to do for now.

For Uncle Jason....

She's an OU fan at heart. Or at least she's going to be. But just for Uncle Jason and to celebrate Michael's acceptance at OSU....

Thanksgiving...a little bit late

From Thanksgiving. Showing Michael how it's done.

"I'm stuffed." I couldn't resist!

I'm back....

Sorry I've been MIA for a while. I promise new pictures coming soon. She's crawling everywhere and she's pulling up now. So we've come to a whole new level of baby proofing. She's got two teeth and likes to say dada all the time. Momma is reserved for when she's crying for something. Which is awesome.

Dave and I had a first today. We had an hour long lunch today by ourselves, baby free! It was truly the first time in 8.5 months we've been by ourselves and not at work or with her sleeping in the next room. And it was strange.....but maybe we need to do that more often. I think people who have weekly parent dates don't work the hours we do. I feel like the time I get with her is so precious that I don't WANT to leave her any more than I have to. But I know my relationship with Dave is important as well. Oh, the guilt of a working mother.....

Look for pictures soon!

November 20th

November 20th shall go down in history as a big day for the DeLeons.

Abby has a TOOTH!! She's been a grumpy butt all day today, and I couldn't figure out why. So I, being a good comforting momma I am, take her to visit the grandparent's for a little while (hee hee!). And finally, as I'm going out the door to go to work, we do a tooth check, and THERE IT IS! A little tooth sticking out from the bottom. Yeah! And then came the tylenol.....

And SHE SAID MOMMA!! I have witnesses in case you don't believe me. She said it twice while crawling towards her dad. So she may be a little confused, but it's a word!

And while I'm thrilled and excited and all of those things, it makes me realize how she's not my little baby anymore. Lots of mixed emotions on my part today. At least the thought of her is making my ED shift tonight much more bearable.....

Tub Time!

Abby's latest tub video! This is a pretty tame tub time for her...usually she really gets going splashing to the point that the floor is all wet.

7 months.....

She's mobile!!

The house is now baby-proofed, plug covers on the outlets, under the beds cleaned out. I've bought the cabinet locks but I'm having some problems attaching them. We may have to have Papa to the rescue!!

And, yes, the shoe pile has been put away!!

My Little Giraffe......

Abby with her cousins at the farm. She got a little
testy during the photos so she had to have her binky.

Abby in the bucket

What are YOU doing my MY bucket?? Abby was
not so thrilled with sharing with Little Richard.

Farmer Girl

Finally....after too long of a wait....here's some of my favorite pictures from the farm.

Napping with Aunt Rosie

Playing with goats

Abby's newborn calf, named Sooner

The newest little one

Abby and Rie

Abby with her GrandPo

And one of my newest favorites.
We had a great time at the farm. Abby LOVED all the farm animals, especially the goats. She enjoyed letting them nibble on her fingers and toes. She and Rie didn't exactly play together, but they'd bump into each other on the big play blanket. And I actually enjoyed the farm myself this time too....I'm really looking forward to taking her back again. Maybe in the spring??

"Official" 6 month pics

As promised, here are Abby's "official" 6 months pictures that we had taken. She was much happier at first (the OU pictures) and a little more frustrated after I changed her clothes for the other. My favorites.....

Stay tuned for more stories and pictures from the farm......

Sunday Evening

Abby had her 6 month check up this past week. She's growing and developing right on track. She's 27.3 inches tall and 18.6 pounds, which puts her right around the 85th percentile. I took her today for some 6 month photos....it took a little bit of work to get good smiles out of her, but we finally got some precious ones. I'll post them soon.

In other news, my grandmother has been ill for quite some time, and she's still in the hospital. If you are of a praying nature, she can use all the spare prayers you have. I'll spare everyone all the details, but she's having significant pain issues, persistent nausea and vomiting, and she's eating next to nothing. Because she's 87 years old, a feedings tube isn't a good option, but we all want her to be comfortable, and she says she isn't ready to die. So comfort (and an appetite!) for her, wisdom for the doctors, and peace for the family would all be appreciated!

And an extra special thanks to my sister, Tammy. When mom and dad (and therefore my nannies) left for Indiana this past week to be with Grandma, she competely rearranged her schedule so she could come take care of Abby. I can't express how thankful I am for her willingness to do that. Luckily, Dave and I had already scheduled vacation this week, so she's covered for now.

And, just for fun, we have rogue armadillo tearing up our yard! No one has actually seen said armadillo, but the grass is all torn up and pulled out, but there's no tunnels or holes like you would see with a mole. Just our yard an our next door neighbors. Apparently we have good grubs in our yard!! According to google, the only thing I can do is sprinkle hot pepper powder everywhere. Anybody else got any suggestions???

Here's a couple of latest pictures from this past week to leave you with a smile!

A Couple of Videos....

Abby's latest achievements...

And we now have new sheets on the bed.

This was really the first time she's been waiting with her mouth open before I could get the spoon to her. Like I'm staring my poor child!

And, finally, here's one of her newest favorite things to do. This was the best money I think we've ever spent!

A Whole Lotta Info....

We started having dinner in her high chair. I think she looks so tiny it it, but she seems to like it!

And her 6 month photos, which I know you've all been waiting for.

She's now to the point that I can't keep her from eating the signs. And, truth be told, we actually took these on Oct. 4th. But I already had the signs made, and I figure I'll forget it by the time it matters!

She did it!

Hallelujah! At age 6 months and 5 days, Abby Elizabeth slept through the night! 9 whole hours straight. I think it's because we're using the big girl high chair for dinner now.

YEAH! Now, let's see if she'll do it again....

It won't be long....

Sorry the video is so dark, but look at her up and rocking! Not going to be long now before she's on the move. And might I just comment that she has quite a cute little butt!

A Time to be Sick...

And, my final post for today, is just an update on butter butt. She's gone from my happy smiley child to a clingy whiny one, but really, that's how I feel too, so I can't be upset with her. She's still having intermittent fevers but tylenol seems to help, and she's back taking milk again instead of pedialyte for the most part. I truly think she has parvovirus, but she's well hydrated so there's not a whole lot to do right now. We've had a bonding weekending lying on the couch together watching Planet Earth. And yes, it's my fault she's sick, I have no doubt that I brought goobers home from the hospital.

Daddy time

As I mentioned a couple of posts ago, Abby and Dave have been spending lots of time together this month. Here's how I caught them this past week when I got home from work.... bonding in their underroos.

The newest DeLeon...

No, we're not pregnant again! But Dave's brother Richard and his wife Rosie welcomed their first biological child, Richard Jr, on Wednesday September 24th at 4:06pm. He joins his big sister Rie, who is about 4 months old. We're looking forward to visiting the farm at the end of October and see everyone. My in laws have gone from no grandbabies to 3 in 6 months!

The Laughing Bug.....

The video says it all......

Love you all!!

Long Time No Talk

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I'm unfortunately back on wards, and while that means I'm curing sick kids from across Oklahoma, I haven't spent very much time with my own little one. Which also means Dave's been on Daddy duty for the past week. I think it's been good for him to see what all I do on a regular basis...the laundry doesn't magically get done, the fairies don't wash Abby's bottles every night. But he took good care of her and I think it was a good bonding time for them. And THIS is what I found on the camera today.....
Maybe I need to rethink "good" care. And, needless to say, her toes have been thoroughly cleaned!

Our newest developments...

Watch out. This is going to be a long one.

So, for starters....look what I finally caught on tape!!

Go Abby!

And from yesterday..... can you believe she's FIVE months old? I sure can't. This past weekend was one year from when we told our families we we're expecting, and now she's here and rolling and talking.....it's unbelievable. She amazes me every day, and I'm so thankful that I was chosen to be her mother.

And then after she tried to eat her sign......it apparently didn't taste very good!

And finally, in breaking news tonight, September 3rd....we have baby food!

Yummy in her tummy!! By the way, it was sweet potatoes in case you couldn't tell!
